If you think a party about celebrating paper would be boring, we sure hope you’re not right.
We love paper! And since everything is sooo digital these days …especially websites… we joined with Interisland Terminal to bring you an event that appreciates the fine art of papery things.
It’s called PAPER HOUSE, and we’ve invited five photographers — Franco Salmoiraghi, Gaye Chan, Atis Puampai, Alex Delapena, and John Alexander Hook III — to each make and sell photo books they’ve created for this event. We feel there are a lot of interesting photographers around town but a very suspicious few photography books. What the hell? is that about? We’re trying to fix that.
Ara Feducia will host a zine workshop where she will teach you profound zinester methodology (and since we’ve always thought that Ara has come from the future, we’re hoping she’ll bring paper techniques that we’ve never seen before).
Add to that a zine showcase and trade show, where anyone — especially you — are invited to bring zines to trade or sell: zines about ANYTHING and everything, especially naked people, and we’re sure to have a good time.
The Honolulu Printmakers will be there, as will the coffee makers known as Brue Bar, one of Kakaako’s finest and newest residents! To keep you caffeinated. By the way, Brue Bar will open soon in Paiko’s verdant design shop on Auahi Street any day now and we can’t hardly wait.
AND: Soon, we’ll debut our new photography blog within the Offsetter — called the OFFSHUTTER — about local photographers and photography-based news things. We are really excited about everything.
PAPER HOUSE will open at Kakaako Agora on November 22 from 10am to 3pm. Check out the beautiful poster designed by Dana Paresa (and, what the hell. Print it out) below:
